History of Bikeland
Hey, it's our 47th year!
Since 1977 Bikeland has grown through five locations to become the premiere bicycle store in Barrie and Simcoe County. Founded on quality repairs and service, we have sold nearly every major brand of bicycle over the years and repaired many more. We were there for the Ten Speed craze of the '70s, helped found the first BMX track in Barrie and helped organize and run the first Barrie Triathlon. We were around when the mountain bike was invented and subsequently transposed our Wednesday night Sunnidale Park ride to Hardwood Hills where it has become the longest running mountain bike series in Ontario. With the Huronia Cycling Club (now the Barrie Cycling Club) we founded the longest running Interclub Road Race series in the Province. We had fun building recumbents for the Human Powered Speed Championships in the '80s and have greatly enjoyed the evolution of new technologies and their application to today's bikes. We are fully embracing the electric assisted bicycle as an exciting and viable solution for transportation and for fun. We have advocated for and will continue to advocate for rail trails, for Simcoe County Forest mountain bike access, for safe road sharing and helmet usage. And you will find us participating in the sponsorship of many of the cycling events you attend.
More than anything, we have always wanted to make our bikes and your bikes work well no matter what type, brand, or quality. That is because we want to share our passion for the experience of cycling on our roads and paths, through our forests, to work, or to the corner store.
Thank you for helping us be a part of your community for all these years!
